At Central Fire Station, Tonga Fire and Emergency Services held its First General Meeting with CEO, Fire and Emergencies Commissioner Lofia ‘I Vailahi Heimuli (9th January 2018) at 0900Hrs, for the calendar year 2018.
In attendance were members of the Executive Committee, TFES officers and staff members. Opening Prayer was provided by Fire Commander (Emergency Response Division) Va’enuku, with the Welcoming Speech given by Fire Commander (Operation) Latu.
In his Key Note address, FEC Heimuli stressed the importance of internal cooperation in order to achieve excellence within the department. The Commissioner thanked the staff of TFES for their continued loyalty to the department and the efforts expended to discharge their duties – a bittersweet moment for the knowledge of his encroaching retirement.
Additionally, the theme for 2018 was also released to staff. Inspired by 1 Samuels 3:10, 2018’s theme reads:
“We will work cooperatively together with love to create a positive working environment where excellence is attained in all areas of TFES. ”
Deputy Fire and Emergencies Commissioner (Operation) Kauvaka gave the Word of Thanks before FC Va’enuku gave the closing benediction.
