    In recent weeks, our Tonga Fire and Emergency Service members have been actively engaged in getting everything ready for this year's PIF. In anticipation of the imminent arrival of Forum delegations, TFES is fully geared up to assist in the monitoring and upkeep of accommdations, fire safety equipment, and security protocols.

  • China Ambassador to Tonga Mr. Liu Weimin visit Tonga Fire & Emergency Services

    On May 10, 2024, Commissioner Tu'ihalamaka was honored to host His Excellency Liu Weimin, the Ambassador from China to Tonga, at the Tofoa Head Office to discuss mutual perspectives on disaster relief and capacity within Tonga Fire and Emergency Services as well as the Emergency Response sector. The Commissioner and His Excellency explored opportunities for collaboration and knowledge sharing between their organizations. Both parties recognized the importance of strengthening response capabilities and supporting impacted communities.

  • International Firefighter's Day, 04th May 2024

    After the deaths of five firefighters in Australia on December 2, 1998, while fighting a bushfire, Australian firefighter JJ Edmondson proposed the establishment of International Firefighters' Day (IFFD) on January 4, 1999.

    International Firefighters Day is on this week 4 May 2024, so in honor of our firefighters not just in Tonga but around the world, help us celebrate our unsung heroes by wearing our colors - blue and red at any given day.

  • Donation for Firefighter's Day Event

    Ealier today, Commissioner Tuíhalamaka met with Acting Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Tonga, Ruan Dewen, to officially handover a kind donation from the Embassy to Tonga Fire and Emergency Services for our upcoming Firefighter's Sports Day Event in May.

    During their meeting they also discussed their views on cooperation and emergency management.

  • Heavy Rain

    With the assistance of National Emergency Management Office - NEMO Tonga we are continuing to assist areas that were affected by the heavy rainfall over the weekend and still on going.

  • Opening Hazmat Office

    Earlier today, 14th of March 2024, TFES held a soft opening of its new Hazmat office in Lotoha’apai where its Emergency Response Department will relocate and oversee all non-fire emergency incidents, or specifically any hazmat related emergencies. Fire and Emergency Commissioner Tu’ihalamaka officially commissioned the HazMat Office, along with our Service Chaplain Rev.

  • Meeting with British High Commissioner

    Fire and Emergency Commissioner Tuíhalamaka met with Her Excellency Lucy Joyce yesterday morning to discuss opportunities of cooperation and looking forward to a great friendship between the British High Commissioner's Office and TFES. H.E Lucy Joyce was a guest at our Fire Fighter's Day Memorial Day last May and showed great interest in the work we conduct within the Community especially with young primary school students who are keen to become firefighters in the future, both male and female. Malo áupito and we look forward to working together in the near future.
